Non-Selective Admission Policy

The SABIS® Educational System is academically rigorous without being highly selective. Admission to each grade level is based on academic attainment rather than age, although age may serve as a guiding factor. As a result, it is possible to find up to a two-year age range among students in the same class. At SIS-Astana, we welcome students who demonstrate a readiness and willingness to learn.

Placement Overview

There are no academic requirements for acceptance into Pre-KG, KG 1 and KG 2 (3 to 5 years of age). Prospective students at these levels are interviewed; they must be toilet-trained and able to speak and follow simple instructions.

All other prospective students take diagnostic tests in core subjects to determine whether they have met the minimum expected standards for their grade level. Based on the results, the school makes final placement decisions and, when needed, may implement targeted strategies to help students reach the required level. These may include the option of attending summer school, or participating in extra lessons or intensive subject-specific classes. At SIS-Astana, we are committed to offering meaningful academic support.

Appointments for diagnostic testing can be made by contacting the admission office through the school phone number or e-mail address.
