Central to academic life at SIS-Astana is the SABIS® Educational System, which includes an international curriculum that provides a foundation for student success. As SIS-Astana students advance through the curriculum, their foundation of knowledge expands in breadth and depth and becomes a springboard for future learning.
Starting in Kindergarten and continuing until graduation, the curriculum at SIS-Astana covers a broad range of academic subjects. Our curriculum enables students to develop fluency in English, Kazakh, and Russian. Strong emphasis is placed on English and math, as well as the sciences in secondary school, where our students prepare for external exams such as the British-based IGCSE, and the U.S.-based Advanced Placement® (AP®) and SAT. Social studies, music, fine arts, physical education, psychology, business and economics studies, computer studies, and other relevant subjects are integrated into the curriculum.
At every grade level and in every subject, our academic approach provides students with a structured pathway to mastering essential concepts. We use engaging teaching methods, frequent assessments, and comprehensive support and follow-up systems to help students succeed and build strong foundations for future learning. For this reason, SIS-Astana’s curriculum includes a strong, student-led component embedded into the school day. Through the SABIS® Student Life Organization (SLO), students actively participate in a wide range of activities that allow them to experience, practice, and develop a broad set of essential life skills.
